Job Description:

This position is the primary manager, coordinator and scheduler of the engineering activities and resources.  This position is responsible for the overall form, fit and function for all of our products. This position will coordinate, schedule and be accountable for managing commitments and development schedules for products and designs.  This position is responsible for the overall integrity, accuracy and completeness of our product designs.  This position is committed to supporting AirFixture quality and value improvement activities identified within engineering, operations, sales, marketing and manufacturing.  The candidate will be involved with the various stages of development on all projects from development of submittals to completion of manufacturing and assembly. This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Provides feedback to management on schedules, milestones and upcoming tasks and responsibilities for the engineering department.
  • Coordinating engineering design changes with Supply Chain to reduce inventory impact
  • Responsible for form, fit and function of all supplied and manufactured parts
  • Needs to incorporate ease of manufacturability into the product designs and understand our methods for assembly, fabrication and production.
  • Provides engineering and technical support to operations and identifying potential cost savings.
  • Responsible for mentoring, coaching and developing the engineering staff and
  • This position is expected to meet or exceed metrics in safety, quality, cost, delivery, personal effectiveness and engagement.
  • Continuous improvement including ensuring process commonality and accuracy of standardized work and relevant work instructions within the engineering department.
  • Collaborates with project engineers to develop new product processes and equipment. This includes evaluating floor processes and determining part quality (First Article Inspections, identifying critical dimensions, tolerance allowance, etc) and where and when in the process these activities are required.
  • Develops process specifications, monitors process capabilities, and develops and implements solutions to address gaps.
  • Supports the team in problem solving and decision making activities.

Qualifications and Educational Requirements:

  • B.S in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial engineering or related technical degree or Professional engineering license
  • Prior project management, engineering product development or related experience is preferred
  • Technical ability to analyze complex mechanical systems
  • Demonstrated ability to create, edit, read, understand, interpret engineering drawings, models, specifications and documentation required (CAD or SolidWorks skills)
  • Ability to work effectively alone or as part of a project focused team

Additional Eligibility Qualifications/Desired Characteristics

  • Expert in HVAC principles and associated equipment
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of estimating, forecasting and scheduling projects
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; team oriented attitude for success
  • Mentoring and coaching ability of other Engineers to enforce consistent procedures and policies
  • Flexibility in handling challenging, multi-tasking, continuous workloads

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Job will generally be performed in a team based plant environment
  • Job requires extensive interaction with all areas of business, including shop production workers.
  • Observe safe work practices while interacting on shop floor
  • May be required to lift up to 50#

Position Title: Electrical Design Engineer
Supervisor’s Title Chief Operating Officer


  • Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, and systems, applying principles and techniques of electrical engineering.
  • Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.
  • Designs and directs engineering personnel in fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment, and determines methods, procedures, and conditions for testing.
  • Develops applications of controls, instruments, and systems for new commercial, domestic, and industrial uses.
  • Directs activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements.
  • Coordinates operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems in field installations.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic circuits and the ability to design, develop and troubleshoot these circuits.

  • 3-10 yrs of design experience, preferably in HVAC or manufacturing environment)
